About the event
In the spirit of giving thanks and modeling the attitude of gratitude, we invite you to join host, Jen Rupe, at the Houston Food Bank warehouse to give back to the community. Children aged 6+ are welcome and encouraged to join you for this event. Most of the projects at the warehouse involve inspecting, sorting, and repackaging of donated food items for community distribution.
Please arrive 15 minutes before our shift begins.
Please visit the link below so that you can register in advance and receive your own QR code.
What to wear: CLOSED-TOE SHOES REQUIRED - casual dress, long pants (preferred), t-shirt with sleeves. Bring work gloves if desired.
For your safety, bags and purses are not allowed in project areas. Lockers are provided for storing any items you don't want to keep in your car, but keep personal and valuable items to a minimum (i.e., electronics, jewelry, money, etc.), as HFB is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
Information for children: All volunteers under the age of 18 also need a completed Youth Volunteer Consent Form signed by a parent or guardian. A copy of this form can be downloaded by clicking the RESOURCES tab on your Volunteer Profile page.
Directions: From Downtown: Take IH-10 east and exit Gellhorn St. (exit #774). Make a U-turn at Gellhorn, stay on feeder and turn right on Portwall St.
Parking Information: If space permits it, you may park in the front parking lot, but in the event of a large volunteer turnout, you may be directed to our overflow lot located behind the building.
